Thrilled to announce that we will be hosting a two day filmmaking workshop in Denver, March 10/11.

This is the first one we have done in over a year and we are excited to meet new filmmakers and help them on their path to making standout, awesome movies.

In the year since we last taught a workshop, Chris and I have been very busy finishing a feature film, having a baby (yes, a real human one! Not a film baby), and I’ve also written a book SHOOT FROM THE HEART about filmmaking, which will be published this year by Michael Weise Productions (the publishers behind such filmmaking classics as Save the Cat, The Writer’s Journey, Directing Actors. Yes, I’m over the moon!).

Our newly launched workshop takes the teaching we did before to a new level. We want every student who attends to leave not only with a clear, concise plan of how to make their movie, but also full of the inspiration and courage they need to make it happen. We’re limiting it to only 10 students to create a really strong, intimate space, so sign up early.

So, it’s been a while. In fact, it’s been so long, I’m not sure I remember how to do this.

Some of you have reached out to me and asked what’s going on. Is Rebel Heart Film still a thing?   Because Chris and I haven’t taught a workshop in many months or even planned one. I haven’t written any blogs, have rarely posted on our Facebook page, tweeted more about politics than films. For the last six months, I’ve more or less disappeared from the Rebel Heart world.

So thrilled to share that Obselidia, my first film, will be screening at the Bug Theater in Denver on Saturday as part of the Colorado Independent Women of Film Festival.

When they reached out to me and asked if I would like to share one of my films there, I was absolutely honored.  Thrilled to be considered a Colorado filmmaker!

I hesitated about which film we should share; but as my very first screening in my new home state, it felt appropriate that we show Obselidia.  Like your first love or your first kiss, no matter how long I live, there will never be another film like it for me.  This movie is like my heart, it’s very pure and innocent, and I will love it forever.

If you’re in Denver, please come and see it, or if you’ve already seen it, please tell your friends.

I look forward to seeing you there!

— Diane
